Escape From Middle-Örth

SPY Armageddon

After a great Christmas party (Pikkujoulu) 3 hour training session at the Parkour Keskus in Malmi in late November, from which our legs were still recovering, the Lii-Kan Jitsu Club Parkour hard-core ventured off to Turku for the Suomen Parkour ry (SPY) Armageddon event.

A whole weekend Parkour Plenary from Friday to Sunday evening for the those with nothing else to do, and no pain sensors in their legs, and robust backs not adverse to sleeping on the hard training hall floor. Common sense dictated that we opt for just the Saturday session when most of the workshops were held. Four top Parkour instructors from around the word, including Finland, Spain and Canada/Germany and Sweden. You can find out more on their event page in English or Finnish.

The package was for a very reasonable price and included a free T-shirt and Vegan lunch on Saturday, if you like that sort of thing. At least it did not overfill the belly for afternoon training, and, it was free! Training workshops ranged from 'silence of the movement' through efficient technique (Leon), to exploration of effective vaulting and tricking opportunities in the local environment (Valtteri), precarious contorted bar traversals (Renae), and, acrobatic if not death defying kip-ups on a high bar (Carles). There are times when Parkour feels more like a circus school!

If you now feel the urge to learn more, check out the upcoming SPY courses.

For example, the upcoming assistant instructor course for youth aged 13-17 should not be missed by upcoming Parkour exponents.

You can read more info on our bookings page, or go direct to SPY events page at: https://www.parkour.fi/koulutus/

Due to time constraints, the rest of this blog will be more of a VLOG and PLOG article and let the aimages and videos speak for them selves.
