Where Fun, Adventure and Education Merge
SAFE Action Camps
Street Arts (+ Sports) & Functional Education (SAFE)
SAFE Camps are...
Summer Action-Adventure & Functional Education (SAFE) camps.
Summer action and adventure camps for kids based on Parkour and self-defense, infused with fun exercises & scenario based games combined with Boffer Battles, Nerf wars, and supplemental excursions to nature parks and specialist training and activity centers.
The place to go when you want to know - who are you?
Action, Adventure & Functional Learning
SAFE Action Camps bring movement, practical skills and adventure together in an active learning environment for young people. Through guided activities, team challenges and scenario-based games, participants explore movement, develop coordination, practise problem-solving and learn to work with others. The emphasis is on participation, safe practice, curiosity and learning through experience.
What can participants explore?
-
Parkour and movement: balance, coordination, mobility and adaptable movement skills.
-
Self-defence and personal safety: explore awareness, boundaries, prevention and practical responses to challenging situations.
-
Fitness and physical challenges: develop physical capability through structured, age-appropriate activities.
-
Strategy Games & Epic Missions using real-world skills
-
Nerf games and team scenarios: practise teamwork, communication, decision-making and tactical awareness.
-
Boffer battles: supervised games using padded training weapons, with clear rules and appropriate protective measures.
-
Themed scenarios drawn from popular Sci-Fi movies
-
-
Swimming and excursions: additional activities subject to the programme, venue arrangements and applicable safety requirements.
The exact activities vary by camp theme, venue, weather and programme.
Learning through action
We don't expect young people to learn everything from a lecture—or to develop useful skills simply by being told what to do. SAFE camps combine explanation, guided practice, experience and reflection.
Participants have opportunities to try, adapt, collaborate and learn from the results, with appropriate supervision and support. The objective is not just to keep busy. It is to connect fun and movement with practical learning, growing capability and greater independence.

SAFE Action Camps: movement, practical learning and adventure—where experience becomes part of education.
Camp Categories
There are three types of camps, which can be combined in different ways:
-
Base Camps are 1-2 day camps, held locally in youth centers, sports halls and outdoor parks (weather permitting). If possible they are held outdoors, often with our very own Bag End (hotel) tent as a camp headquarters. The second tier camps are those held indoors at a youth center and/or sports hall, but are slightly more expensive. These are the most economic camps, but are focused more tightly on the camp concept or theme, be it Boffer battles or Nerf Wars.
-
Booster Camps are Base Camps plus some special activities such as an excursion to a specialist activity centre, for which extra supplies or entrance and transportation costs are incurred. These are usually a two day camp package. Booster Camp outings include excursions to local nature parks such as Luukki or specialist training centers, such as Parkour centers, SuperPark, trampoline parks, Wall Climbing centres, Flow Parks (Tree Adventure parks), and many more depending on transportation arrangements and costs.
-
Boot Camps are 3-5 day camps that may consist of a combination of Base & Boster Camps or, are overnight tenting camps on a long weekend or during the working week consisting of camping trips (tenting) to a nature park or an island in the Finnish Archipelago.
The Four day Summer Action Camp programme combines Basecamps & Booster camps, consisting of:
-
Basic Parkour and self-defense techniques and skills training.
-
Making and learning how to use Boffer weapons (toy clubs / swords), and then put our selves to the test in a variety of exercises, games and fun scenarios throughout the day. We supply the materials and tools, you make and keep your own boffer.
-
An afternoon out at the local nature park & lake, where the Boffing Battles and other fun can continue, along with some refreshing swims in the lake (weather permitting).
-
An afternoon excursion to a specialist theme park. Be sure to have and wear your SAFE Camp T-shirt for this outing.
It is possible to book up for individual days, however, for the activity center outing we require participation in at least one of the previous Base Camp days.

Camp Activities Description
Training without Frontiers, Collaboration without Tears.
It's a Mind SeT!
SeTs' Street Arts & Functional Education (SAFE) Summer Action Camps are mostly planned as one-day stand-alone camps that may include fitness & activity training, and other fun games based on a theme such as Parkour (yr 2021 & yr 2022), self-defense, Budolop (Parkour-Jitsu), Boffing (self-defense and battling with soft padded weapons and noodles!) & Nerfwars.
Depending on the facilities booked, complimentary sports and general entertainment games may include soft/Jitsu football, Ultimate Frisbie, cricket/rounders, table tennis, table football, tug-of-war, Wacky Races, Tag games and ParkourPKP etc.!
Some camps, that we call Booster Camps, may include afternoon excursions to specialist activity centers and parks such as for SuperPark/Parkour, swimming/water parks, wake boarding, wall-climbing & bouldering, Flow Parks, Escape Rooms, Surf House, Fööni & MegaZone etc. Together, these create a truly dynamic physical & functional education programme.
At SeTs, it is SAFE to say...
ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS!
Communication & Community
All our clubs, camps, classes and other activities are supported by our online coaching system, private study groups and public discussion forums. As a registered participant of the camp, you are entitled to join in the private study group discussion forum. Here you can discuss, ask questions and share pictures and videos with the rest of the group. You will also find videos and Blog articles about past events and public demos and workshops (Suomi 100 demo, Liikuva koulu päivät 2015 & 2022), performed for the local schools and city councils.
To do this, you will first need to register as a site member (free). You can then, and will also be invited to, join the mobile app with which you can easily stay in touch and chat with us and other members.
There is more information about this, and download links on our website at [site memberships] & [Contact us].
As part of our communication and community building efforts, we do take pictures and videos at all our camps to document the event, provide fun feedback and keepsakes for the kids, and for marketing purposes. It also provides a great extra learning facility that goes beyond the borders of the camps and facilitates the kids continued learning and social networking. Such shared experience often makes friends for life.
Standard Terms and Conditions
SAFETY & PRACTICALITIES In order to keep the camps SAFE and manageable under the varying circumstances, we limit them to small groups of 8 to 15 children. To attend/go swimming in the nature park lake, your children must be able to swim safely and unaided, behave and follow instructions without question. All activities are supervised, however, due to the nature of the activities, we cannot admit special needs kids or any others with behavioural problems. Activities such as Parkour and self-defence carry inherent risks of injury. Whilst we do all we can to prevent, mitigate and minimise these risks, it is not possible to avoid them entirely, Kids will be kids and accidents happen, though fortunately these have been rare and mostly involved bruises, skin scrapes and hurt pride. Know that you participate in these activities at your own risk, and we remind you to take out your own personal accident insurance before attending a course or camp, just in case.
PERSONAL INJURY INSURANCE: Injuries are rare and usually just minor skin scrapes or bruises but are an inherent risk of these kinds of activities. Whilst we do all we can to prevent, mitigate and minimise these risks, it is impossible to prevent them all. The risk of injury is something we all must accept when participating in such activities. Consequently: SeTs ry does of course ave third party insurance, however, we require that all participants have their own personal injury insurance cover. YOU PARTICIPATE & TRAIN ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK - so remember to check your PERSONAL insurance status prior joining the camp. When your booking is being confirmed you will need to provide your social security number and confirmation of insurance for the booking to be accepted. All participants should carry their KELA card with them when attending camps.
MEDIA PERMISSIONS: SeTs Ry takes pictures and videos of the camp activities to provide fun feedback and souvenirs for the kids via the online study groups, document the camps & for marketing purposes. We do not publish the name and personal details of any of the kids without explicit permission, nor will we publish harmful images knowingly or deliberately. Media content for marketing purposes is limited to the minimal exposure we can manage without making it meaningless. Rest assured, our intention and purpose is for the benefit of both the participating kids and future camps. The two go hand in hand! By registering and participating in the camps, you grant us permission to take and use such media for the purposes stated.
BEHAVIOURAL CODES OF CONDUCT: As previously mentioned, safety for all is a primary concern. Injury risks are higher for self-defense & Parkour than in most sports, for which reason we take special care in the way that we train and behave towards others. It is precisely because of this that our injury rates tend to be much lower than in other seemingly less violent but, competitive activities. Unlike these other sporting activities, team work, behaviour and social skills are an integral part of our skill training requirements by design, not an incidental byproduct of the activity. Outburst of anger and violent lashing out are not tolerated. Instead other means of dealing with conflict are encouraged that are more in line with business and working life norms that most adults are used to. At the end of the day, part of our purpose is to help peaceful kids negate the threat of bullies and incidences of violence, not empower the bullies. Whilst we do our best to tutor campers in these aspects of the arts, the short duration of the camps make our capacity for educating and conditioning errant kids rather limited. For this reason we must necessarily require the campers behaviour to be of a reasonable standard to attend the camp in the first place. Kids that cannot or consistently will not behave and follow the rules and instructions, will be expelled from the camp. Parents will be required to fetch them away the same day, without refund. So please, make sure your kids know how to behave!
REGISTRATION POLICIES: When you RSVP to an event, you are registering your interest in the Action Camps. No actual booking has yet been made. All camp registrations are confirmed and invoiced by email or E-invoice once the camp itself has been confirmed. I.e. as soon as the minimum participant quota is achieved and usually at least one month before the camp starts. The invoice must be paid as soon as possible,: I.e. within two week of the camp booking confirmation and in any case before the camp starts. In the event of late cancellations (after confirmation of booking or within 1 month of the camp start date), no refund will be given unless a replacement participant can be provided by the original registrant, or, at the discretion of SeTs Ryu given the prevailing circumstances. The Camp Fees have been set based on a minimum of 8 registrations to make the camp economically viable.. If the number of registrations is significantly less (4-6), SeTs Ryu reserves the right to: - Cancel the camps, - if the fees have already been paid, they can be transferred to future camps, or refunded as you prefer. - Raise the price commensurately to ensure the camp can still go ahead, subject to agreement by the registered participants. I.e. the camp is re-offered to registrants at the new price.
FUTURE CAMPS
Camp themes and excursions vary from camp to camp to maintain interest. It all depends on interest, your interests!
The main SAFE Boot camps are held in June, and also run camps in July if interest is sufficient. During the other school holidays in the autumn and the Christmas break we hold mainly base and booster camps, but a full boot camp may also be possible during the longer holidays. We plan to hold most camps at the Kemeleonten sports centre in Leppävaara, Espoo which, you can see in the video below.
So please let us know and register your interests here to cast your vote for your preferred camps.
