The creative world is about to witness a fresh wave of innovation and inspiration. SeTs Ryu, a name known for pushing education boundaries, has joined forces with the Espoo Creative Centre, a new hub for creative minds and projects. This collaboration promises to bring new opportunities, projects, and experiences for artists, creators, and the local community.

I’ve spent my life as a "man of many hats"—moving from the high-stakes world of professional security supervision and financial auditing to the dynamic energy of vocational teaching and sports coaching. Whether I was on a door as a security supervisor or leading a development project or a classroom, I kept seeing the same problem: "Silos without sense." We’ve fragmented our lives. We treat fitness as a chore for the body, education as a bucket for the brain, and safety as something we "outsource" to the police.

At SeTs Ryu, our mission is to break down these walls. To navigate the 21st century, we need a "flipped" approach—one that bridges the gaps between the dojo, the boardroom, and the digital world. More than that, they are innumerable gaps and silos between knowledges systems, people and cultures that have become an impediment to further progress. This is precisely why many people are pinning their hopes on AI because it allows people with general AI knowledge and skills to do the work of several people from a wide spectrum of disciplines. This however is just the knowledge work, workflows and procedural skills. It does not deal with the vertical fractures between physical and mental/management skills within each of the silos, let alone between people and cultures. The Human vs. AI and robotic divide is of increasing concern, socially, economically and politically.

"From HI to AI and back to HI again.
It all starts and ends with human beings.
Back to the Future!"

To stay relevant in the age of Artificial Intelligence, we need ARTIL (Active Research Through Investigative Learning) a concept developed by SeTs Ryu specifically for the purpose of activating people to take an interest in research and the development of personal and societal resilience in the face of numerous Disinformation, Proaganda and Fake news threats to our democaracies and democratic values. We don't just need more information; we need more critical thinkers who can navigate the hybrid warfare and help build a more robust community of capable individuals.

The "Silo" Problem is Stifling Your Productivity

In my experience, traditional fitness is often too "transactional"—you give an hour of sweat to get an inch of bicep or lose an ounce or two of fat from all the wrong places. But our philosophy of Functional Fitness treats movement as an education. We use disciplines like parkour and breakdancing not just for the "cool factor," but to train the nervous system and the essential phsyical mobility and skills.

If you think self-defence is just about throwing a kick or punch, you’re already 90% behind. In our Assault Awareness & Risk Management (AARM) course, we teach that personal safety is in part a swiss army knife type toolkit, but you still ahve to know how and when to use those tools, and the most important tools aren't physical. For example, Risk Awareness & Analysis, Threat Assessment, Attack Anticipation, Situational Awareness & Control, Verbal De-escalation (communication skills), Stress & Anxiety Management. Safety is not a state-provided service you just "rent"—it is a functional skill you must own. Proactive awareness (AARM) is necessary even in the "safest" countries because, in the moment of a crisis, the police are minutes away when you only have seconds.

This is the "Sound in Body, Sound in Mind" principle in action: the physical confidence you gain from mastering your own movement provides the emotional anchor you need to stay calm in a boardroom or a confrontation.

A metal bucket with four colored streams labeled: Transactional Fitness, Incomplete Self-Defense, Solo Specialist Bottleneck, Lack of Collaboration.

The same fragmentation that hurts our health is killing our businesses. We’ve become "silos of knowledge," where specialized teams fail to cross-fertilize ideas. My background in IT project management taught me that the "Solo Specialist" is a bottleneck. Whilst teaching a university security management course I came across the 'Biometrics Silos Quote' referring to the same issues in the scientific world in general. The future belongs to the Co-Creators.

By moving to a collaborative "Co-Pilot" model, we’ve seen metrics that should make every manager take notice:

  • 60% reduction in content development time.

  • 70% reduction in administrative tasks.

  • 2.5x increase in positive feedback from clients and learners.

As we say at SeTs Ryu:

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."
